Can We Honestly Say?
Can we honestly say that an organisation that has not dealt properly with the abuse of minors within its congregations, and spent decades covering up the abuse, is truly striving to live according to Bible standards?
Can we honestly say that an organisation that has a pattern of lying in court, with a hand placed on the Bible, (Norway shunning hearing; “is the Watchtower God’s only true channel on earth?” …..”that would be presumptuous”, a role they assert has existed for them since 1919 and that loyalty to this organization is necessary for salvation) is truly striving to live according to Bible standards?
Can we honestly say that an organisation that adds words to the Bible that not even their own Greek Interlinear Bible has, takes words out, uses the inserted name “Jehovah” where it is not present, to make the text which applies to Jesus, apply to Jehovah instead, thus deliberately countering the text from showing that Jesus is God?
Can we say that an organisation that prioritises rigid rules about blood transfusions over human life is truly striving to live according to Bible standards, standards that prioritise human life over legalistic interpretations?
Can we say that an organisation that throws its workers out onto the street without giving them a single cent in compensation is truly striving to live according to the standards of consideration for others that the Bible teaches?
Can we really say that an organisation that claims God’s kingdom began ruling in 1914 bases its beliefs solely on the Bible? Where exactly does the Bible say that, without resorting to elaborate numerological speculation or, as Charles Taze Russell did, even turning to pyramidology?
Can we honestly say, without biting our tongue, that an organisation that predicted the failed end of the world for 1925, amongst other dates, based on what Charles Taze Russell, Joseph Franklin Rutherford and others taught, bases its beliefs solely on the Bible?
Can we agree that an organisation that predicted the end of the world for 1975, based on calculations made by Frederick William Franz, bases its beliefs solely on the Bible?
Can we say that an organisation that comes up with strange explanations out of thin air, like the so-called overlapping generation, bases its beliefs solely on the Bible?
Can we agree that an organisation that banned beards for decades (in Western Congregations), simply because that was Joseph Franklin Rutherford’s personal preference, bases its beliefs solely on the Bible?
Can we say that an organisation that teaches that only a small group among them are called to heaven bases its beliefs solely on the Bible?
Can we agree that an organisation that teaches that a large portion of its members are not children of God, but merely his friends, (The Watchtower defines the “great crowd” as friends of God rather than children of God) bases its beliefs solely on the Bible?
Can we say that an organisation that claims the Bible can only be understood with the help of its hundreds of books, brochures, magazines, website, and now videos produced by the Watchtower Society, bases its beliefs solely on the Bible?
I don’t know about you, but for me, it is clear that Jehovah’s Witnesses are (unwittingly) followers of men. Period.
For these men in authority, The Bible is nothing more than a tool they manipulate at will and use to manipulate people.
