“We’re Not Inspired… But Your Life Depends on Obeying Us”
The leaders of Jehovah’s Witnesses state that salvation depends on obedience to them.
“We can be loyal to Jehovah by being loyal to the faithful and discreet slave, the Governing Body. Jehovah and Jesus are using the faithful and discreet slave to feed us spiritually, so we owe our loyalty to that slave.
The way we listen to and obey the faithful slave has a direct bearing on the strength of our friendship with God. In fact, it means our very life”.
Ron Curzan, Governing Body helper at the 2016 annual Watchtower meeting. -Paraphrased in various literature and articles.
They openly admit that they’re not inspired or infallible, and so they can err in doctrinal matters or in organisational direction. However, despite all of that, THEY claim that we can have absolute trust in the Governing Body. Our future kings, the Governing Body, would never lie or deceive us would they??
Once you start to see that, you realise that being a Jehovah’s Witness is not about pursuing the truth like we were told. It’s about being absolutely loyal to an authority that admits it can be wrong, and has been wrong MANY times before. And it’s about trusting whatever the Governing Body says is truth today, even if that truth changes tomorrow.
